  1. I love your first almost black photo! I think the mix of textures and patterns and the general composition of the photo is gorgeous. I am also a big fan of the first nothing but gray picture, the distance from the trees and the connecting swing is great. Personally I would try to tone down the lights in the street picture, the bright white lights grab too much of my attention and it takes away from the black.

  2. I think your most successful photo is your second almost black photo. I think the lights from the car and the street lights make the almost black photo stand out just enough while still being a black photo. I think you could benefit from maybe zooming in on the objects in the distance on your first nothing from grey photo.

  3. Hi Meile. I think photographing at night is a smart idea. Keeping the frame simple and having just a few highlights could be very successful. I would encourage you to reshoot for the Gray photos, as these images aren't quite getting to the idea of a Metaphor. I also think that not showing such a large vast space might be helpful in both the Gray and White images. It's going to be much harder to control the tones in such a vast scene. Good Luck!

  4. I think your first photo is my favorite. You start with a very dark tonal range in your subject, so I think you set yourself up well for an almost black image without underexposing too much. I would be curious to see what it looked like if you brought the exposure down a little bit more in Lightroom, but I still think this is a successful photo regardless. I might be interesting in seeing your first almost white photo from a different angle, but again I think you set yourself up well with the tonal range in your subjects. I think your final grey image is my least favorite. Maybe just try pulling back and capturing more of the subject. Overall, great job!
