Zhuhui, This is an interesting set of photos. I'd say that some of them are a bit lacking but then others are SUPER nice. Specifically - your second photo for the almost black is really interesting and really makes me wonder what it is. That photo is edited nicely and not overdone. In comparison, I couldn't even tell what the first black one was. I'm not sure if that is something that happened during processing or in the original photo, but we do need to be able to see something. Your white ones are a good start and I think you're going in the right direction with them. Other than that, the gray ones just felt a bit substandard to me, especially when your second black one was so interesting and captivating. Good work!
Hi! I think your gray pictures are your strongest, I really like the second gray picture because it isn't just gravel and has a mix of texture that give the photo a great flow! Your second almost black photo I also really like, it is much stronger than your first all black photo because the second has a clear subject. The same applies to your white pictures the first one has a clear subject and is more visually appealing than the second. Overall though, awesome job!
Hi Eric. We discussed some of this on Tuesday. Your Black is too black, your White is too white, but your Gray is much closer. For the Gray images I think much of what is wrong is in the processing. The first gray image is close and might just need a bit more contrast, clarity or sharpness. But it needs something. The second gray images seems oddly out of focus or soft, but you are seeing it correctly. This image also needs a bit of pop and I feel as though you've made it too flat. The other images are just way too forced. You are making an image White or Black to satisfy the technical but the emotional or Metaphor side of the assignment. Approach your images where you are trying to create an emotion or feeling through the use of an Almost Black or White image. Good Luck!
