I really like your square cropped photo of the lamp, I like how the circular part is centered in a square photo. I also liked your first photo in black and white. It took me a little bit to figure out that it was, but I liked that I couldn't tell right away! My suggestion would be for your split toned photo, I really like the subject and the idea behind a reflection in the puddle, but I find it too blurry or out of focus. Maybe making the contrast more intense or taking a sharper image.
I believe that your second photo is unsuccessful only because of the blurriness and how out of focus it is. I like the idea of using the puddle reflection as one of your abstraction photos, but I think a sharper image would help a lot. Your first photo in particular was successful. I think it is a great example of what abstraction is as I genuinely cannot decipher what the subject is.
Hi Julia. Nice start. For most of your B&W images you need more punch in them (more contrast.) They need to pop and they lacking in contrast which means they are also lacking in texture. You are looking at the right subject, but try to not completely fill the frame with the exact same visual information, as in your first photo. I think the desk lamp could have been really interesting, but you needed more of the window in your composition. As it is, it's more like an afterthought hanging out there in the corner. Keep shooting paying particular attention to composition and balance and try to work on better edits. Good Luck!
