  1. Interesting work! Firs photography with caught my attention was "Split toned". Even that for abstraction you have to guess what you see, this your photo for me just perfect for abstraction. "B&W" really nice artistically pleasing and tasty, I like seeing and feeling wood texture in it. "Square" I am not sure if it can be fully be considered as abstraction. "Vignette" as well very interesting, lines on the wall and subject on the ladder plays very well. For me would be interesting to see how it looks if you tilt this photo. Last "Color" have very interesting subject, I like it. Maybe if you crop just some part of this subject it would make this photo more mysterious and more abstract. Great photos and work in Lightroom, I really enjoyed you photos.

  2. Hi Ian. I'm not finding these images to really work as abstractions. Perhaps the last image, but only because the object itself is more abstract. We know exactly what we are looking at for each of your images and the idea is for the view to have to work a bit harder to understand what they are viewing. In some cases it could be a matter of cropping in closer to achieve this, but for most I would encourage you to replace them with images that satisfy the challenge in a more interesting and successful way. I think you need to get closer and in most cases not show us complete objects, but only parts or pieces of objects. Sometimes it helps to find places or objects that are abstract to begin with. I would also encourage you to find a strong sense of light. Think about textures, patterns, shape, etc.....Good Luck!

  3. Hello Ian. I enjoyed looking at your photos and I find that you are being creative with the subject. I find the third image to be quite interesting. Although like Meile already said, I do not think this can be classified as an abstraction. I find image 1 to be rather bland and I also do not find image 2 to be an abstraction. I would personally argue that image 4 is abstract as it kept me wondering what exactly the figure was climbing, and what type of figure it is. Image 5 does indeed look quite abstract but perhaps you could center/crop it better. Besides retaking some of the photos I would also recommend being a little bit more aggressive with the editing. Overall, I think that some of your images are not really abstract but I do find them to be interesting.
