Hey Eric! I think the most successful of the group is your last photo. The other photos have too much context in them. Try to focus on shapes and forms so that you're emphasizing elements rather than the literal subject matter. What helped me was googling abstract photography and looking at images... it gave me a greater sense of how to approach this assignment.
Hi Eric. I totally agree with Emily. You are generally showing us too much. I also would encourage you to not make all your images at night. While night can be a wonderful time to photograph, it can be a lot more challenging. I think you will have better success photographing during the day and in most cases you need to refine the photographic frame and distill it down to just a few objects. Much like you did with the light coming in under the door. Images 2, 3 & 4 don't utilize composition or balancing techniques, and are much too casual. You have to engage the subject you are looking at and find an interesting way to visually present it. As Emily mentions, look online at other examples and look at the artists that I suggested in the project brief. Good Luck!
